I have cable internet through Bigpond and it is connected to a wireless router. I have been having some irregularities with the download speeds. Mac seems to be consitant, doesn't matter what file type I am downloading of from where; the download speed is always above 500kbps at a minimum. However, my other laptop running Windows XP service pack2 downloads exe files and files from an FTP server at the same speed but as soon as I try to download a media file such as avi, mpg, mp3, wmv my download speed drops to 50 - 60 kbps. My desktop running Windows XP with a wireless USB connection to the router does the same this is my laptop. I cant understand why this is? Is there some stupid Windows setting that I am notsure about, I doubt very much it is my ISP since my MAC running OS Leopard downloads at the same speed no matter what is being downloaded? Can someone help or know what the heck is going on?
