Our 24 month contract with Telstra Broadband ADSL1 expired in Feb 2008. We phoned them today to see if we could upgrade to ADSL2 . We saw a new Telstra promotion for a 24mth contract for ADSL2 for $29.95 per mth for the first 12 months and a free modem, so long as you had a home phone and a mobile with them as well.  As we certainly qualified, we rang them today to enquire if we could upgrade. We were quite willing to enter another 24month contract as we thought that the new promo deal would suit us well. However, we were told that as we had previously held a contract with them we were ineligible for any promotional deals at all. Instead of the $29.95 per month for the first 12 months and then $59.95 after that, we must pay $89.95 per month with no reduction at all.

Also bear in mind that a new customer will need a modem which would be supplied by Telstra and our existing Modem is ADSL2 compatible so there would be no cost there for Telstra to bear. Also all we need to do is have a technician go to the exchange and throw a switch for the ADSL2 to work for us. As existing customers of theirs we are finding it difficult to comprehend the logic here. Why on earth would you penalise an existing customer from getting a good deal which they offer to new customers only? Wouldn't it be good business sense to keep your existing loyal customers first? I guess what they are saying loud and clear is - go elsewhere. Can anyone recommend another server who offers a reasonable deal and maybe a bit of common sense?

       I think that is a strategy to grab a new customer . When you are on board they don''t  care about you . Or be fare , you are already been offer once .

       Today Telstra offer me come back to them with a deal  24month home phone unlimit local , untimed STD and a free wireless ADSL2  20MB/s modem for 12GB download/month , free installation , free connection plus $180 credit back , all that for $89.95 per month .

    Should I take this ?  By the way anyone experience in the wireless ? could it go through 2 layers of brick to a computer 16m away
