Plain Old Standard Telephone Line &VOIP

    Greetings!

Newbie here!  I am considering signing up for a VOIP enabled broadband plan. I just have one issue my existing phone is mounted on a wall in my kitchen and shares my current ADSL 2+ line with a modem which is inside a bedroom.

I was told by the prospective ISP that if I will need a VOIP enabled modem/router, read up on a NETGEAR 834GV.  Setup instructions says that I need to connect the plain old standard phone line IN to the modem/router then feed another phone line from the modem/router OUT of the bedroom to my wall mounted analogue phone.

That sounds fair enough, my dilemma is this the plain old standard phone line that will connect the modem/router as I said previously is shared by my current phone mounted in my kitchen wall.  The phone line is underneath my floor boards and if I  can avoid it I'd like to not do anything.

Question: Can a plain old standard phone line feeding the modem/router feed the VOIP back to my wall mounted phone through the same line?  If YES how do I accomplish this please, thanks for all responses and help!!!Big Smile
