    ISP wont connect broadband

I've just moved house and my ISP says i am too far from xchange for broadband. I waited 2 months for phoneline to be connected as Telstra had to upgrade. My neighbour has broadband(8Mbps) and so do people living 300m further down the road.Technician showed diag where cable runs and it runs past my house before going to those people down the road. If people further down the road(thus further from exchange) can get broadband, why cant I? It is slowww going back to dialup. Please help!

Mate, you have to go back to your ISP and demand answers. I've heard of people not getting ADSL because there weren't any available ADSL lines, but if your neighbors have broadband then it stands to reason the story they are giving you has no foundation. Mention to them the so called Australian broadband guarantee where everyone is entitiled to broadband, that might help. Maybe check with another ISP. Some ISP's just wont lease the line from telstra, claim its too expensive. That happened to me earlier this year when I moved.

    Re: ISP wont connect broadband

Thanks for replying. I plan to get my current ISP that supplies me dialup but won't do broadband to put their reasons in writing. Then I'll ask neighbours(I get alomg with them) for a copy of their broadband invoice and I intend to go from there. If no success then the problem will be esculated within the company. If no good I will see what the TIO(telecommunication industry ombudsman) says. That seems like standard practice? PS: Telstra owns all infrastructure in my area & my phone/internet company leases the line from them. Thanks
